Our mission

We believe every child deserves a chance to build their future.

About Youma

My name is Youma, I am an international student from Germany now living in San Diego, and this project was born from my deep connection to Rwanda and my belief that young people must be engaged in building the systems and opportunities they wish to see.

Through my travels, volunteering, and partnerships with local organizations in Rwanda, I met students and families whose focus, discipline, and ambition deeply changed the way I see opportunity. They balance school with caring for family members, long daily commutes to class, and serious responsibility at a very young age, carrying far more than most people their age ever should. Their determination is extraordinary. What they often lack is not ability, but access — to school fees, materials, safe housing, and vocational training.

Again and again, I saw how small amounts of support can unlock enormous potential. A uniform, a mattress, a set of books, or a scholarship can be the difference between dropping out and moving forward. Knowing this makes it impossible for me to stay passive. It pushes me to do better, to use my education, my voice, and my access to resources to build real connections between donors and students who are ready to work for their future.

youmakromer.com exists because talent should never be limited by birthplace. This platform turns care into direct support — reaching people who are already working incredibly hard, but simply lack access to basic resources.

Vocational Training for a Strong Future

Founded by Swiss entrepreneur Jackie Helfenberger, Sangira works in the Nyamasheke District on the shores of Lake Kivu, providing professional vocational training for young people, with a strong focus on empowering women and supporting families through education and skills development.

Students receive hands-on training in hospitality, cooking, housekeeping, reception, gardening, and carpentry, along with English and entrepreneurship lessons, followed by internships with local businesses and hotels.

Sangira’s long-term vision includes building a school hotel and eco-lodge, allowing students to train in real working environments while helping create sustainable income for the school and the surrounding community.

Restoring Childhood Through Creativity

Art for Change works with street children in Musanze District, Rwanda, offering protection, education, and emotional healing through creative expression. Founded in 2020 by visual artist Hodari Olivier, the organization began as an art outreach project and quickly grew into a full support program for children living in extreme vulnerability.

Through painting, drawing, music, dance, sewing, and mentorship, children are given a safe space to express their stories and rebuild confidence. But Art for Change goes beyond creativity — the organization also provides basic needs, educational support, family reunification, and long-term guidance to help children leave street life permanently.

Many of the children served have faced hunger, violence, exploitation, and trauma. Art for Change meets them where they are, offering not only skills, but hope, stability, and a path toward becoming healthy, productive members of their communities.
