Gisubizo Jean Pierre

Jean Pierre was born in 2010 in Musanze District, Rwanda. From the very beginning, life tested him in ways no child should ever endure. Born into a family struggling with extreme poverty, Jean Pierre’s childhood was marked by deprivation and uncertainty. His parents, unable to provide the basic necessities, watched helplessly as their son was forced to navigate a world far beyond his years. By the age of five, Jean Pierre’s life took a harsh turn. He spent five long years on the streets, living among the shadows of society where survival was the daily battle. Hunger was a constant companion, cold nights were endured under open skies, and the loneliness of the streets weighedheavily on his young heart. Despite the hardships, Jean Pierre never lost the spark of hope in his. eyes. He dreamed of a life where he could attend school, learn, and build a future free from fear and want. Education, which should have been his right, was an almost impossible dream. Paying school fees, buying uniforms, and accessing basic school materials were beyond his family’s means. Every day, the weight of poverty threatened to extinguish his dreams, and yet Jean Pierre’s determination remained unbroken. Everything changed when Art for Change Rwanda stepped in. With their support, Jean Pierre was able to leave the streets behind and return to school. For the first time, he could hold a notebook, sharpen a pencil, and walk into a classroom knowing that learning was now possible. Beyond school, he discovered a world of creative expression through visual arts, where painting and drawing became both his voice and his therapy. Art allowed him to release the pain of his past and imagine a future filled with possibility. Today, Jean Pierre is not just a student—he is a symbol of resilience and hope. The once- homeless boy now walks with confidence, dignity, and pride. He has discovered his talents, nurtured his dreams, and begun to envision a future where poverty will no longer define him. Every brushstroke, every sketch, tells a story of courage, survival, and transformation. Jean Pierre’s journey is a testament to the power of support, love, and opportunity. From the harsh streets of Musanze to the bright classrooms and art studios where he now thrives, he embodies the truth that even the most difficult beginnings can give rise to extraordinary hope. Through Art for Change Rwanda, Jean Pierre’s life has been transformed, and in his story, we see the incredible potential that lies within every child if only they are given a chance.
