Habumukiza Gilbert

While each child has their own story, donations are pooled and shared evenly to support the entire class.

My name is Habumukiza Gilbert. I was born in 2003 and I live in Burera District. I grew up in a home where poverty and conflict were part of everyday life. My parents’ constant struggles eventually led to their separation, and from that day, life became heavier than my young heart could carry. My mother was left alone to care for me and my siblings. I watched her suffer silently, working beyond her strength just to keep us alive. Many times, she went without so we could have something. Seeing her pain shaped who I am today.Because of this life, I grew up too fast. I carry a strong desire to change our story. My dream is to study hospitality—not for status, but for survival and dignity. I want to work, to earn, and to support my mother and my siblings, so they no longer have to suffer the way they have.Thank you 🙏
