MANZI John Terry

John Terry is a young boy living in Musanze District, Rwanda, whose early life has been shaped by hardship, resilience, and the quiet determination to overcome obstacles. Born into a vulnerable household, John Terry grew up witnessing the struggles of his family as they faced the harsh realities of poverty. Every day was a challenge, and even the most basic needs— food, clothing, and school materials—were not guaranteed. John Terry’s mother worked tirelessly, often taking on small jobs and chores to make ends meet, while the family still struggled to afford school fees or the supplies necessary for learning. John Terry’s education was interrupted multiple times, not because of a lack of intelligence or curiosity, but because of circumstances beyond his control. The inability to buy books, uniforms, pens, or other essential school materials often left him feeling frustrated and left behind. Despite these challenges, he never gave up his desire to learn and grow. Life began to change when John Terry joined Art for Change Rwanda. For the first time, he found a supportive environment that nurtured not only his education but also his creativity. Through visual and creative arts, John Terry discovered a new way to express himself and cope with the difficulties he had faced. Painting and drawing became more than hobbies—they became a source of hope, confidence, and joy, allowing him to imagine a future beyond the constraints of his childhood hardships. With the guidance and support of Art for Change Rwanda, John Terry is now back in school,thriving academically while actively engaging in creative arts. He has learned that challenges do not define him, and that through hard work, dedication, and support, he can rise above the limitations imposed by poverty. Today, John Terry is a bright, determined young student, full of hope for the future. His journey is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of care, education, and creativity. From the struggles of a vulnerable household to the opportunities offered by Art for Change Rwanda, John Terry is building a future filled with possibilities, inspiration, and the courage to dream big.
