Nzafashwanayo Dominic

Dominic, born in 2006 in Musanze District, grew up under the care of his mother, Nyirampozayo Laurance, and father, [insert father’s name if known], in a home hadowed by extreme poverty. From a young age, he faced hunger, neglect, and the shame of going to school without shoes, uniforms, or basic materials. Mocked and ridiculed by classmates, Dominic felt deep loneliness, self-doubt, and isolation, and eventually withdrew from school and society.Life on the streets brought harsh survival, occasional kindness, but also repeated pain and abandonment. Dominic’s childhood joy and security were stolen, replaced by fear, hunger, and longing for care. Everything began to change when he discovered Art for Change Rwanda, a safehaven where he felt seen, valued, and supported.Through creative arts and drawing, Dominic began to heal, rebuild confidence, and find hope. Today, he is back in Senior One, fully equipped with school materials and uniforms, and dreams of using his artistic talent to advocate for street children and inspire positive change in his community and beyond. What once was a story of pain has become a story of healing, resilience, and hope, proving that love, opportunity, and creativity can transform even the hardest lives.
