Gisubizo Emanuel

Emanuel, born in 2007 in Musanze District, grew up in theshadow of extreme poverty and family hardship parents Kangindi Immaculée and Senzoga Claude, With a disabled father and a mother struggling to survive through casual labor, Emanuel’s childhood was marked by hunger, conflict, and long periods on the streets. He often slept underbridges, surrounded by other vulnerable children, and faced experiences that no child should endure, even turning to harmful coping mechanisms to survive. Everything changed when Emanuel joined Art for Change Rwanda, which he calls his “little heaven.” For the first time, he felt safe, understood, and supported. The program provided not only education but also emotional care, guidance for his family, and the tools for Emanuel to heal and rediscover hope. Through painting and drawing, he found joy, purpose, and a voice to express his feelings. Today, Emanuel is thriving in Primary Five, embracing learning with determination andcreativity. His smile now reflects hope instead of fear, and his life stands as a testament to the transformative power of care, opportunity, and resilience. From the streets to the classroom.
